Thank you for making my 2018 so special. At the end of last year, you voted all 4 of my nominated songs into The Current's Top 89 Local Songs for 2017. That was a great way to head into the new year.
In May, you funded a pretty ambitious Kickstarter campaign for my new CD, that not only reached its goal, but also its stretch goals, and tears of joy were shed. You also supported the release of the first single from the CD, by downloading Medication.
Since then you've waited patiently as music business obstacles have delayed the release of the CD until next Spring, and in the meantime you voted for me to open for the Steve friggin' Miller Band and India Arie at the Armory!
Your kindness and support have turned what could have been a pretty downbeat year into a banner one. There are no words, there just aren't, but it seems like the least I can do is to put all of my merch on sale for the holiday season. Everything except downloads is 20% off on my merch page. Thank you for making my 2018 wonderful, and have a joyous holiday season, my lovelies!

Through the end of the year, these are gigs scheduled with my own band, Corpse Reviver, and The Okee Dokee Brothers. PLUS, there's even a gig with Two Many Banjos, my first-ever band from back in my Duluth days!

I'm planning to stuff myself silly on Thanksgiving, and then work it off rockin' out with my pals Doug Collins and the Receptionists and Janelle Faiman at the Parkway Theater. This will be a full band show, plus the recently upgraded Parkway is a beautiful venue and a great place to hear music. Mark your calendars and get your tickets!

Playing a large venue like The Amory and opening for India.Arie and The Steve Miller Band still seems like a dream. A dream that came true because of YOU! There's no way to thank you all for this gift, but, but... *sniffle* ... THANK YOU! It's a night and a gift I'll never forget.

I've been fortunate lately to play some great gigs with the likes of Steve Miller, India.Arie, and Mark Mallman. My good fortune continues with Eleanor Friedberger (The Fiery Furnaces) and Pill at one of my top favorite venues, The Cedar Cultural Center. All three bands are female fronted and create musical magic, so come on out!

Thanks to YOUR VOTES, my band has WON the #AARPROCKS contest - WUT?!?! This means I get to open for the Steve Miller Band and India.Arie at the Armory in Minneapolis on 9/21. Tears of joy have been shed! I don't even know how begin to thank all y'all for your votes. This was not something I could do alone, it's something we had to do together and so this win, I genuinely feel, is our win, yours and mine. HOLLA - I luv y'all! I just want you all to know I'm thrilled to the bone that you've given me this opportunity, and to know that I and my band will do our very best to make you proud to have us representing Minnesota music at this concert. If you'd like to share in the moment, I believe there are still some tickets available!

The last weekend of summer kicks off Friday, September 14th with a show at the James Ballantine Uptown VFW Post 246, featuring the one and only master showman Mark Mallman, my band, and captivating Indie rockers TABAH.
I am STOKED to be on the bill with such outstanding bands. Come join us, it's going to be a smokin' hot end of summer show!

Holy carapskies, I could open for the Steve Miller Band! BUT I NEED YOUR HELP. I need your VOTE!
Here's the deal. On September 1st I'm playing a 2:30 PM set at the Dan Patch Stage at the Minnesota State Fair for a contest where the winner opens for Steve Miller and India.Arie at The Armory on September 21st. Friends, this would be the biggest show of my LIFE.
WHOA! That's a pile of details. But this is the important part: No matter what day you go to the Fair, please, I'm beggin' ya, stop by the AARP booth and vote for my band to be the opening act. The AARP booth is by the Space Tower, and it's a pretty cool booth.
Now, if you do happen to be going to the Fair on September 1st, which is a Saturday so maybe you are, it'd be such Great Minnesota Get Together Fun to see you and play for you at the Dan Patch Stage at 2:30.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. That's me, thanking you in advance! You've all been doing a LOT for me in the past year, by voting for FOUR of my songs in 89.3 The Current's Top 89 Local Songs of 2017, by buying and listening to my new single, Medication, by supporting my Kickstarter Campaign, and waiting patiently for my new album to come out. PLEASE KNOW how much I appreciate your support and how much I love you for it. You are amazing beyond words!
Excited, excited, excited, excited. That's me, excited!

My pal Jeff Krause is releasing his first EP and performing a farewell concert before moving to New Orleans. Let's bring in his new music with some fanfare, and send him off to his new home with some fanfare too!
In addition to Jeff and myself, we'll have Kansas City's Jessica Paige playing her own blend of folk, pop, and blues for you. Between the Twin Cities, Kansas City, and New Orleans, we've got a night that's a nice slice of middle American music for y'all!

I'm BAAAAAACK! In the studio, that is. Where I LOVE to be! I'm just getting started with my new full-length CD, coming out later this year, and already it's been loads of fun! In this video I'm experimenting with a new (for me) kind of fiddle, called a wheel fiddle, but better known as a hurdy-gurdy. It's got a totally unique sound that might just work in one of the songs.
I am so happy to be starting out the new year making new music for all y'all!
December 29, 2017
Holy crapskis! I’m friggen speechless...
I was completely honored to be included on the ballot for The Current’s Top 89 Local Songs of 2017 list. Friday night, I had just found out that my pals Fathom Lane got voted #1 so I excitedly pulled up the list to check it out (congrats lady & gents!).
Scrolling down this list, feeling so happy & proud of all of my pals / musicians that I admire who I'm seeing on this list, I came across my own song Free at #33. (!!!) After giving myself a minute to freak out & do a happy dance, I continue scrolling / long distant high-five-ing my fellow music community dwellers. (Seriously, there are so many amazing artists in this town. I'm in a constant state of feeling jazzed & impressed.)
15 minutes later I've made it through the entire list & I'm almost done crying...
YOU GUYyezZAA!! I can’t believe y’all voted for all four of my nominated tunes as some of your favorite songs to come out of our MN music scene this last year! WHAT!?! I am freakin' blown away. THANK YOU for supporting, and voting, and spreading the love, and most importantly for listening. I really love y'all lots & lots. I promise to make you more music, real soon.
December 22, 2017
Whew! After resting up a bit from the holidays, here's a show to launch your 2018. I'm very pleased to be joining my friends from the enigmatic and engaging Fathom Lane at the Aster Cafe River Room. This is a wonderful listening venue right next door to the Cafe, with a cash bar, and of course, the ever gorgeous view of the river and Minneapolis skyline.

I'm putting the final touches on 2017 by pitching in at some friends' gigs before the end of the year.
First, I'll be guesting on a few songs with my good friends The Changeups for their Unhinge the Moon CD Release party at Bunkers on Thursday, December 14th. What's also special for me about this show is the CD was engineered by my husband and bandmate, Eric Martin.
